Capsule Geology

The C zone area is underlain by feldspar-quartz-biotite-phyric diorite of the Late Cretaceous of the Windy Table Complex (Thorn Stock), which intrudes Upper Triassic Stuhini Group volcanic and sedimentary rocks. A second Late Cretaceous magmatic event deposited subaerial volcanic rocks of the Windy Table Suite non-conformably upon the Thorn Stock, coeval with a second stage of plutonism.

Anaconda reported a vein showing in Sea Creek of “black smoky quartz, likely reflecting very finely diffused tetrahedrite”. Four of their samples averaged 0.15 per cent copper, 0.4 gram per tonne gold and 51 grams per tonne silver (private report by Adamson (1963) for Julian Mining, as reported in Assessment Report 26433).

Julian Mining is reported to have examined the C zone and/or area in 1963 and 1964. Rimfire Minerals Corporation discusses the C zone in 2000 but no work is done. In 2011, Rimfire drilled a hole in the C zone or just south of it (Figure 4, Assessment Report 32769).

THN11-58 tested a geophysical anomaly south of Camp Creek with similar high chargeability and low resistivity characteristics as the Talisker Zone alteration/veining corridor. THN11-58 was collared approximately 165 metres north-northwest THN04-34. The top of the hole encountered locally graphitic, weakly pyritic, Stuhini(?) Group conglomerate, sandstone and siltstone, before a sharp contact with the Thorn Stock at 169.49 metres. Porphyry of the Thorn Stock was variably sericitized and pyritic, but contained no significant gold or silver values. It is considered that the high chargeability was due to pyrite and graphite and the lower resistivity to the underlying Thorn Stock.

In 2020, Brixton Metals Corporation completed a program of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, a 12.5 line-kilometre ground induced polarization survey, a 715 line-kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey and 19 diamond drill holes, totalling 5292 metres, on the area of as part of the Thorn property. Drilling was performed on the Outlaw (MINFILE 104K 176) occurrence area.
